Attendance Policy

FOR ALL Pre-100, 100, and 200-level Coordinated Courses and SOME Uncoordinated 100 and 200-level Courses

We have found that there is a strong correlation between class attendance and success. The NJIT attendance policy requires students to attend classes.

The attendance policy of the Department of Mathematical Sciences is a follows:

* If a student is absent for more than three classes without valid justification, including both lecture and recitation, he/she will be given an F for the course.  If the student opts to withdraw from the class before the withdrawal deadline, the F will be changed to a W.

* In case of serious illness or unavoidable causes, students must present appropriate documentation to his/her instructor within two lectures of returning..

* Any student who feels there are extenuating circumstances should consult the Associate Chair.
