Attendance Policy

There is a strong correlation between class attendance and success. The NJIT Attendance Policy requires students to attend classes.

For 100- and 200- level coordinated courses and select other Mathematical Sciences courses (please consult your instructor for the attendance policy of your course).

  • If a student is absent for more than three lectures and/or recitations prior to the withdrawal deadline without valid justification, the student may be required to withdraw from the course. A student may request a grade of “F” instead of withdrawal. If the fourth absence occurs after the withdrawal deadline, the student may be given the grade of “F.”

  • In case of serious illness or unavoidable causes, students must present appropriate documentation to the Dean of Students Office within two lectures of returning.
