- The Department of Mathematical Sciences congratulates John Bechtold, who has received the 2005 Excellence in Teaching Award in the category, "Excellence in Lower Division Undergraduate Instruction."
- DMS applaudes Ivan Zorych for receiving the 2005 Excellence in Teaching Award in the category, "Excellence in Instruction by a Teaching Assistant."
- The Board of Trustees has approved the promotions of both Amit Bose and Mike Siegel to Full Professor. The Department of Mathematical Sciences and NJIT recognize them for their many contributions and both promotions are very well deserved.
- 04/27/05--The first NJIT undergraduate Integral Bee was held on Wednesday, April 27, 2005. Fifteen students participated in the competition and several more came to watch. The winners were Abel George (1st place, $75), Ankit Shah (2nd place, $50), and Mani Rana (3rd place, $25). The rules were based on those used for a similar contest at Pitt for the past several years. Thanks to all the faculty who also attended the event. Sponsored by the NJIT Math Club.
- 04/11/05--Six of our PhD students presented posters at the Einsteins in the City Conference at the City College of New York on Monday, April 11th. They are: Yiming Cheng, Mohammad Hameed, Satrajit Roychoudhury, Dmitri Tseluiko, Suomi Lahiri and Lin Zhou.
- 04/05/05--Congratulations to Lin Zhou for being the graduate co-winner of the student poster session at the AMS Spring Eastern Sectional Meeting at the University of Delaware on the weekend of April 2nd, 2005. Faculty and graduate student presenters from NJIT were: Anisha Banerjee (with Dan Goldman), Yiming Cheng (with Robert Miura), Dmitri Tseluiko (with Peter Petropoulos), Lin Zhou (with Greg Kriegsmann), Demetri Papageorgiou, Lou Kondic and Christopher Raymond.
