The Department of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology seeks candidates to fill a tenure-track position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level in Applied Mathematics with particular emphasis on Stochastic Modelling, Methods, Computation and Analysis.  The Department is especially interested in candidates whose research is compatible with the department’s emphasis areas in mathematical biology, fluid dynamics, wave propagation, and materials science.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics or related relevant discipline with strong research, funding and teaching potential for consideration at the Assistant Professor level. An appropriate record of accomplishments in classroom teaching, mentoring doctoral students, research publications, and funding is expected for appointment at the Associate Professor level. At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Postdoctoral Position in Nonlinear Waves and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the field of nonlinear waves and geophysical fluid dynamics in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. The project will focus mathematical modeling of nonlinear wave interactions in stratified oceans. A candidate should hold a PhD in applied mathematics, fluid dynamics, or related relevant discipline. The position is initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal of one additional year, subject to satisfactory performance. In addition to research duties, there may be a possibility of a teaching assignment in the Department of Mathematical Sciences if the candidate prefers. The start date is Sept. 1, 2017 or earlier.
